About the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish FestivalPEI Shellfish galore! (And much, much more!)In 1996, a one-day shellfish-centric event was held in Charlottetown to celebrate PEI’s shellfish industry. That event has evolved into what is now known as the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival, a four-day festival packed with culinary demos, celebrity chefs, exciting (and delicious) chowder, and oyster shucking competitions. Now a Fall Flavours Signature Event, the 17th annual PEI International Shellfish Festival will return next year to the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront September 13-16 and it’s shaping up to be the biggest and best one yet! Tens of thousands of people from around the region and the world are drawn to this vibrant celebration of PEI shellfish. Get shucked! Think it looks easy? Then try your hand at shucking oysters yourself! Join us at the Keep on Shucking with Frank’s RedHot® Oyster Shucking Demos taking place during the PEI International Shellfish Festival. Kick up your heels! Other festival weekend highlights include the Go Deep International Tie One On Mussel Competition, the International PEI Shellfish Chef Challenge, Peake’s Wharf Boat Cruises, Top Notch Charters Lobster Fishing Excursions, Culinary Bootcamp and much more. Check back in Spring 2012 to Order your tickets here! And subscribe to our e-newsletter to stay up-to-date with the goings-on of the PEI International Shellfish Festival. The Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival is a joint effort of the PEI Aquaculture Alliance and the PEI Shellfish Association.
